It is About the Journey Not The Destination Part 2

Wed, 20/01/10 - 18:12

The journey from the Laos border to Luang Prabang can be summed up easily in three words: long, tedious, and boring. It consisted of a 6 hour slow boat ride, a 4 hour local bus ride up north, and a 5 hour taxi ride back down south to reach our final destination.

Flood, Wet, & Beers

Wed, 20/01/10 - 18:03

Finding my old stories to publish – here’s another one:
Now that my face doesn’t look so much like a melted wellington I decided it was about time I treated myself to a relaxing break to sample some of Thailand’s exotic beaches, swim in its vast crystal clear tropical waters, and perhaps squeeze in a few topless massages as well.

Jet Lagged Toilet Adventures

Sat, 05/09/09 - 13:09

I’ve never been so jet lagged in all my life. I feel completely useless, and it’s a shame because I haven’t really been up for going out in the evenings that much because I’ve just been so tired. It doesn’t help that everybody here waits until around 10pm to go out. In [...]

Moments Like These

Sat, 22/08/09 - 15:41

Music has a powerful effect on people, it has an ability to invoke memories of certain events, people, and feelings. Just a few notes from a song heard miles away from home can bring you right back to a place so familiar and comfortable, putting a smile on your face or a tear in your [...]

Adidas Trainers – The Ultimate Hiking Shoe

Sat, 22/08/09 - 14:43

Packing for a 2 day trek in the Jungle is always going to be a tricky experience, what to wear? What to pack? What to leave behind? Having never been on a trek before it made these choices even harder.
Therefore, using no research or logic whatsoever I decide to take the following: 1 small bottle [...]

Review Comparison of Georgetown, Penang – Malasyia

Wed, 19/11/08 - 12:49

Lonely Planets Review of Georgetown – Penang:
Cramped and chaotic, central Georgetown is an obstacle course of daily life. Dodging in and out of traffic and across open drains turns walking into a full contact sport. When you shift your concentration away from ground level, you’ll notice Georgetown’s charms: atmospheric shophouses, elaborate temples and [...]

The Shakes

Tue, 04/11/08 - 12:38

It’s three o’clock in the morning, I am standing completely motionless on a beach sporting only a pair of Calvin Klein boxer shorts.  Everything is in slow motion.  Beneath my feet I can feel every unique grain of sand, every drop of rain that catches my body is like a gentle touch from a woman’s [...]

Pai – Thailand To The Laos Border
21.55 – After a nice meal of steak, chips and 3 Tiger beers I say goodbye to Becs and Shirley and jump into the mini-van. Notice that it’s full of Canadian women and just 1 old Thai man. I sit across the aisle from the old Thai [...]

Pai People

Sun, 02/11/08 - 12:42

Becs And Shirley
Two amazing, quirky, cheeky health care girls from Bournemouth that I had the pleasure of hanging with for the last few days. Shirley, a quick witted pretty Amanda Holden look-a-like who takes great pleasure in winding Tom the Frisbee player up (see Tom below), and punching him right on his new tattoo. [...]

Hostel World

Tue, 09/09/08 - 11:18

Hostels are great places to meet fellow backpackers and travellers. People come from all over the world to sit all day drinking cheap beer from the conveniently nearby fridge and watching Friends or The OC (of which I am now a secret fan). With so many members of different countries all housed in the [...]
